The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) awards the flagship store in Maple top prize for retail excellence.
Yummy Market located at 1390 Major Mackenzie Dr. W. won top industry prize — the Gold Award in the Specialty Food category — at the 2016 Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Awards held on October 18 at the Toronto Congress Centre. The Gold Award is a nod to the European retailer’s excellence in products and services offered at its 48,000-square-foot concept store in Maple, Ontario.
Presented by CFIG, this annual awards program distinguishes outstanding independent retailers across Canada. Each participating store was rigorously evaluated against extensive criteria for retail excellence in the months leading up to the awards gala. From sustainability initiatives to food safety to each department on its own – every aspect of the store operations was assessed on a points scale.
This year’s Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Awards ceremony marks the third year in a row of award nominations in specialty food for Yummy Market. The European food retail chain is already the proud recipient of CFIG’s Bronze and Silver Awards in the Specialty Food category from previous years.
“We are humbled and incredibly happy to win gold this year,” said Alexei Tsvetkov, CEO of Yummy Market. “To all of us, this top award is a testament to the hard work and excellence in everything we offer and make in-store. Every day, our goal is to bring the best quality products and services to our customers. Thank you CFIG for recognizing that with this award.”
